Luis A. Canena Marquez Stadium, the longtime home of the Tiburones de Aguadilla and widely recognized as one of baseball’s greatest historic treasures, is now available for you, so you can experience spring training like the pros.
From its inception, our program was designed to give players the opportunity to train, live and play together in a unique environment where athletes could develop their skills to the highest level.
Formed in 2011, the Puerto Rico Instructional Baseball League will play its first season starting in January 2012. The first team in the league is based in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico, also home of the league’s corporate offices. The league’s inaugural season will feature between 6-8 teams. Puerto Rico Instructional Baseball League
January 9 through February 28, 2012
PRIBL Purpose:
- To provide professional baseball players, especially overlooked recent college grads or just released pro players, a winter instructional league to be able to compete for pro jobs during spring training, or for those currently under contract to sharpen their skills and be a step ahead of other wintering players.
- To evaluate players for the 2012 season. Expose and network players to Independent leagues, International Leagues and Major League Organizations for the 2012 season.
General Information:
- 22-man Rosters: First 132 players to register will play
- 6 Team League: Tainos, Tiburones, Villanos, Piratas, Potros, Lobos.
- 7 Day "Spring Training" starting January 9, 2012
- 6 Teams selected with Opening Night starting on January 16, 2012
- 7 week season with Pre SpringTraining followed by games 4-5 days per week and days off instructional work customized to player's needs.
- At conclusion of the Puerto Rico Instructional Baseball League, each player with have professional documented scouting report.
- Scouts representing Major League organizations, the Can-Am League, the Frontier League, the American Association, the Mexican Summer League, the Liga Norte Sonora, the Korean and Taiwan professional league, Japan Independent Leagues, the Colombian Winter League, and European professional leagues.
- Championship Rings will be presented at the end of the season at the Awards Banquet honoring the PRIBL Champions.
- $3,800 for Season ($1,500 minimum due with registration, balance of $2,300 on Dec. 1st). Receive a $805 discount for a total payment in full of $2,995 with registration.
- $1,995 if player provides their own housing and transportation.
- Discounts available for players with professional experience with recognized league.
Fees Cover:
- Includes housing, gym membership, and local transportation to training facilities for entire length of league.
- Includes all instructor fees.
- Uniforms, workout gear, bats, helmets, catcher's gear all provided.
- Players are responsible for their own transportation to and from San Juan, Puerto Rico or to and from Aguadilla, Puerto Rico.

Official Announce:Puerto Rico Instructional Baseball League Hires Strength & Conditioning Coordinator

Perez works as Athletic Trainer and Strength and Conditioning Coach for the Philadelphia Phillies program. He is also the current Head Athletic Trainer and Strength and Conditioning Coach for the Leones of Ponce (PR Winter League).
During the 2010 season, he works as Rehab Coordinator assistant and Athletic Trainer for the Florida Marlins.
Part of his experience includes works as Assistant Athletic Trainer for the Montreal Expos, Baltimore Orioles and St. Louis Cardinals.

Alex Diaz Supplements 2012 PRIBL Staff
MAYAGUEZ, PR — Alex Diaz is the most recent name added to the already impressive list of 2012 PRIBL Instructors. Diaz is a former Major League Baseball outfielder. Was 23 years old when he broke into the big leagues on July 25, 1992, with the Milwaukee Brewers. He played all or part of eight seasons in the majors, from 1992 until 1999, for the Milwaukee Brewers, Seattle Mariners, Texas Rangers, San Francisco Giants and Houston Astros.

The PRIBL makes another move adding the former MLB, Julio Valera to his coaching staff.
MAYAGUEZ, PR – The Puerto Rico Instructional Baseball League (PRIBL) is pleased to announce the hiring of Julio Valera as a Pitching Coordinator.
Valera is a former Major League Baseball pitcher that played for five seasons. He Played for the New York Mets from 1990 to 1991, the California Angels from 1992 to 1993, and the Kansas City Royals in 1996.
Currently is the Pitching Coach for the Puerto Rico selection and works as the same function with the Mayaguez Indians (Puerto Rico Winter League).
Valera is also a certified coach for MLB.

MIAMI, FL – The Puerto Rico Instructional Baseball League (PRIBL) is pleased to announce the hiring of Javier Perez as the league’s Director of Baseball Operations for Puerto Rico.
Perez brings a plethora of experience to the inaugural league. He is also the GM for the Mani-Gavilanes de Mayaguez (Class A) and the Director of Player Procurement for the Tarzanes de Mayaguez (AA - PR League).
